3/28/14 - Nationals Update
OMAHA NE - 3/28/14: Third game of Nationals the Indians played the Orange Lutheran Lancers, the California state runner up. Missing at least 5 starting players the Indians had an uphill battle. The game remains scoreless in to the third period unless Lancers sniped shot from right circle to end the tie late in the third and end the game with an empty netter. Indians lose second game in nationals 2-0. Shots were 32-21. Senior Jesse Borne was behind the pipes for his last game as an Indian. Great season regardless of the outcome.
OMAHA NE - 3/27/14: Indians lose 3-1 to Providence Celtics of Illinios. Game was 2-1 with seconds left and Indians gave up empty net goal.
OMAHA NE - 3/26/14: The Peters Twp Varsity Indians begin USA Hockey's High School Nationals with a thrilling shootout victory over former National Champion Regis Jesuit 4-3. The game was back and forth with Regis Jesuit taking dictating the tone for most of the game, though with the lead in regulation with seconds remaining Regis scored with an extra attacker to nab the tie. No scoring in the 5:00 overtime and then in the shootout both Adam Alavi and Sam Barnes scored while Senior Phenom Brian Baker completely shut down the Regis Jesuit. Terrific game by Baker and the Indians defense to keep 3 time defending Colorado State Champions to only 3 goalies. The Indians are playing with a short bench missing three key players for the first three games of nationals.

3/22/14: WE ARE THE STATE CHAMPIONS
For the first time since 2005, the Peters Twp Varsity Indians have take the pinnacle of hockey in Pennsyvlania...defeating hte LaSalle College High School Explorers in a 2-1 victory at Pegula Ice Arena at University Park. The Indians led most of the game with goals from Junior Adam Alavi and Senior Captain Josef Kittleberger (Game Winner). Brian Baker had 27 saves in another stellar performance, while the Penalty Killing Unit for the Indians kept the Explorers at pay for what was close to the last 4:00 minutes of the game. The Indians move on to Nationals this week in Omaha NE. Congrats Coach Tingle and the team!!!
3/17/14: INDIANS CAPTURE PENGUINS CUP TROPHY ON TO STATES!
The Penguins Cup Trophy has returned to Peters Twp... first time since 2005. Some say the Curse of Consol has been broken, as the Indians pull through for winning the Penguins Cup after 3 consecutive losses. Playing Bethel Park in the Finals for the 2nd time in 3 years, the game was close all the way through. The first period ended scoreless. Jonathan Dagnal started the Indians scoring with a close range blast past the Blackhawks goaltender, Junior Carter Ekberg assisted on the goal. Middle of the second, Junior Adam Alavi lifted a rebound of a Chad Wyatt in to the net to increase the Indians lead to 2-0. At the conculsion of a 5:00 major penalty, Bethel tightened the game to 2-1 to close period.
In the third period, Bethel strategically pulled out the rule book for what could be called "goalie mask-gate" where during an Indians interference penalty, were assessed a second penalty for an illegal goalie mask, subsequently forcing Senior Star Netminder Brian Baker to wear another goalie helmet to finish the game. Kudo's to the Indians penalty killing unit that melted off the 5 on 3 caused by the Bethel tactics. This ultimately worked in favor of the Indians as it added more desire to win. At 3:25 Senior Dagnal took a spin-a-rama shot that made its way under the Bethel goalie leg pads to make it 3-1. Bethel pulled their goalie and tightened the game with less than a minute until Dagnal scored his hattrick goal with :04 remaining to seal the win for the Indians 4-2. Senior goaltender Brian Baker stopped 41 shots in the Cup Victory.
The Indians move on to play Flyers Cup Champions LaSalle at Pegula Arena in State College, Saturday at 5:00 PM.

3/13/14: Pens Cup Update: Varsity AAA Moves on to Pens Cup Finals
St Patricks Day will have a "Red" tint to it this year. By way of a strong 6-1 victory over Penn Trafford last night, the Varsity AAA Indians move on to play backyard rival and top ranked Bethel Park, Monday at 9:00 PM at Consol Energy Center. The Semifinal victory was highlighted by Senior Jon Dagnal's hattrick and followed by other goal scorers: Juniors Adam Alavi, Gavin Rebholtz with Sophmore Matt Amelio picking up the last of the night. Senior Brian Baker stopped 34 of 35 shots in another steller game.
The Pens Cup will be Peters 4th consecutive appearance at Consol and it's second time against Bethel in 3 years. Both AAA Pens Cup teams have been selected to play in USA Hockey's High School Nationals March 23-30, so this may not be the last time the two rivals see each other. The Indians and Blackhawks faced off two times in regular season and split the series.
